1. Brew your coffee or espresso as usual. I have two french presses- one is glass and one is stainless steel. I bought the stainless steel because it kept the coffee hotter for a longer period of time, but if you just have one french press, make your coffee and then put it into a decanter or other container and clean your french press thoroughly.
2. Pour milk into your glass french press decanter (remove the metal handle!). I prefer a combination of half and half and non fat milk, it's just creamy enough. I pour in about an inch or an inch and a half.
3. Microwave the milk for about 1 minute. If you have a handle that cannot be removed or are using a stainless steel press, then heat the milk in a glass measuring cup.
4. Using your press plunger, pump it up and down in the milk and it will froth up immediately. Do it until you reach your desired frothiness (yes it's a word).
It's perfection! I even had enough to make Astrid a steamer! (she thought it was whipped cream- ha! fooled ya!)
You have such good idea. I'm so glad there is finally a blog to help me with tricks around the kitchen.
